Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool

Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool (formerly MoogLab), was conceived by our Rock Star volunteer, Creative Director David Hamilton. It uses the intuitive interface and sonic richness of Moog instruments to teach children and adults the science behind the sounds of electronic music. With Dave’s guidance, we have used this model extensively in our events, at area music festivals, and in our student outreach program.

The Student Outreach Program is central to our mission of educating and inspiring children and adults through the power and possibilities of electronic music and the intersection of music, science and innovation. Through this program, we are teaching kids about vibrations, sound waves, electricity as a generator for sound, circuitry and more. The feedback has been 100% positive — the kids love the experience and have fun while learning and the teachers love the valuable compliment to their science, math, and arts curriculum.

We are building this program and seeking funding to continue our efforts in Western North Carolina and beyond. At a cost of only $10 per student, the Bob Moog Foundation Student Outreach Program, or MoogLab offers unique exposure for the children and opens their minds to science, music, creativity and innovation.

Help us impact kids’ lives through the SoundSchool. Donate $50 and provide this experience for five children!
