Bob Moog touched people all over the world through his instruments and his open, humble nature. Some say he was one of the greatest music engineers of all time. At the very least, he revolutionized modern music and his instruments have been a part of some of the greatest recordings of all time. To honor and celebrate his legacy as a pioneer and an innovator, Bob's family, lifelong friends, and colleagues have established The Bob Moog Foundation.
We are working together to make waves; to support Bob's legacy.
What does it mean to make waves? Naturally, it means to make sound waves with Moog instruments. For this Foundation it also means to promote the work and the spirit of Bob Moog; to create a “ripple effect” of opportunity for electronic musicians and engineers; and to inspire people around the world to be innovators.
The Foundation has set forth the following primary goals:
Goal 1: The Bob Moog Museum
The Bob Moog Museum will be both an information resource and a place to connect with Bob's spirit. The Museum will house Bob's personal and professional archives, which include: writings, photos, instruments, schematic drawings, recordings by famous pioneering electronic musicians, articles written by and about him, an extensive collection of electronic music, and other Moog artifacts. The goal is to make this an educational, interactive museum open to students, researchers and music historians, and for all people interested in engaging with the Moog legacy. Portions of the museum’s contents will be made available for traveling exhibits. The museum will also serve as the hub of the Foundation’s activities.
Goal 2: Outreach Programs
Bob accepted almost every invitation to speak to children and teenagers, going to impoverished. In keeping with this aspect of his life, we are going to continue this part of his legacy through outreach programs aimed at a wide and diverse demographic. We will make a special effort to bring Bob’s science and art to the youth of the world.
Please help us honor Bob's legacy. Spread the word about the Foundation. Send us a contribution and watch it make waves.
